Review

If you have a dvd player, you probably either own this disc in its original dvd set or you wanted to but couldn't afford it, or you liked some of the films but not all of them. Now Paramount is re-releasing the first three films as single discs and as a set again with added extras to help promote the upcoming fourth adventure.
For someone who couldn't afford the entire set, or didn't want the entire set, this is a good opportunity for you to buy the Indiana Jones films that you do like with some added extras. On this special edition the new material includes George Lucas and Steven Spielberg interviews, that were not previously available and they are interesting to hear, along with archival footage and stills. There is also a feature on the infamous melting head technique used in the film's climax, storyboards but still no audio commentary from producer and director. In other words, the discs contain what they should have contained the first place. Picture and sound are outstanding, as you would expect from these two film makers, with THX sound and brilliant picture. So if you never got the boxed set, nows your chance, with some bonus features thrown in.

This is yet another monster-on-the-loose flick that got its premiere on the Sci-Fi channel before going right to DVD. You shouldn't let that steer you away, because while it's admittedly a silly, low-budget gorefest (much more graphic than when it aired on TV), it's also a sometimes clever cross between Hitchcock's "Rear Window" and 80s slasher movies, not to mention that it features a scenery-chewing cast that reads like a who's-who of B-movie heroes (including Lance Henrikson & Jeffrey Combs). The titles creature is kinda dopey looking, but "Abominable" is still a lot of fun once it gets going. From Anchor Bay.
