The story: After getting out of the joint, Ricco seeks revenge against a powerful crime boss named Don Vito who stole his lovely lady and killed his father. Will he be successful or fail in the process? "Ricco The Mean Machine" is your typical mind-numbing revenge flick filled with goofy fist fights, bloody violence, and plenty of female nudity. While this all sounds well and good for cult/70's cinema fans, the movie has one major problem: Ricco, the hero of the story, is not a mean machine. Ricco can best be described as a moronic wimp who looks more like a surfer or a hippie. Ricco is so moronic in fact that his actions manage to get his family and friends murdered. Call me picky, but if you're going to use a title like "Ricco The Mean Machine," the title character better be one mean bad-ass. This is false advertising at its worst. Note: Squeamish viewers may want to avoid this film as there are violent scenes of a man being shot in the head, people being tossed into acid, and a male genital being cut off. The widescreen picture quality and the Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono track look rather good. For an obscure 70's action film, the restoration team has done a commendable job in cleaning up the audio and video. Extras: A theatrical trailer and a must see 18 minute featurette titled "Mitchum The Mean Machine." This featurette features an interview with Christopher Mitchum as he looks back on his film career, working with John Wayne, etc.

Duck

Category: Quick Reviews
Philip Baker Hall plays Arthur, an older gentleman who, following the death of his wife after a long illness, is ready to end his life, when he is stopped by a small duckling that happens his way. Maybe it’s the untimely death of his son many years back, but he decides on a whim to take care of this little waterfowl, sharing a bed and food with it and giving it a name. After being kicked out of his modest apartment, Arthur takes Joe on a long adventure in search of water – an ocean, a lake, anything – in a desperate version of L.A. that is overrun with pollution and trash.
