Review

This travelogue of one Buddhist student's voyage to the many sacred sites throughout Tibet where various Dalai Lamas are either buried or received prophetic visions is a fairly fascinating view into a world that so many of us might never get to see.

Yet what is unfortunate about this disc is how little we actually do get to see of the gorgeous vistas that this one gentleman visits. The entire film is shot on what appears to be an old camcorder and is roughly stitched together like someone's vacation video.

For some insight into the world of Buddhism around the world, it offers much but as a visual exercise, it is quite lacking.

A fine entry in the young adult fantasy sweepstakes, Disney's "Bridge to Tarabithia" may not be as sweeping or ambitious as "The Chronicles of Narnia", but it's a lot better than the terminally boring "Eragon" or the overly pretentious "Tuck Everlasting." Disney has done an admirable job adapting Katherine Paterson's award winning novel into a film that's likely to please both adults and their children. Not to give anything away, but you might want to make sure you have a box of tissues handy. Featuring solid performances, decent visual effects and deft direction, "Bridge to Tarabithia" is a smart, fun & visually exciting film which somehow slipped under the radar at the box office.
