The story: Denise begins to experience strange things after a horrific plane crash in which she was the only survivor. Is she going mad or is death coming for her?

Even though “Sole Survivor” came before “Final Destination” and has a similar plot, it’s simply nowhere near as good. True, the film contains some unnerving imagery such as the gruesome plane crash aftermath, the skull, shadows, and walking dead people, but the low budget, the non-experienced actors, and the rushed script wind up hurting the film.

Speaking of the script, I was rather confused as to why writer/director Thom Eberhardt seemed to shy away from the plane crash so much. Instead of having the crash be a big ordeal and making it have a huge impact on Denise, she acts bright and cheery at the start and seems more concerned with hitting on her Doctor. Another issue I had was the inclusion of the crazy psychic actress (Carla). She didn’t really add much to the story and her character felt like a cheap horror gimmick.

The 1.78:1 widescreen picture quality is in weak shape. The picture is jumpy at times and is full of dirt and grain.

The audio track is in even worse shape. Pops, crackles, background noises can often be heard and the dialogue is often too faint.
