Stomping On The Yard

Review

"Stomping On The Yard" is a 90 minute documentary that follows several teams from across the U.S. competing in a stepping championship. For the uninitiated, Stepping, (which was made popular by the film "Stomp The Yard") is a unique mix of dancing and singing. As with any competition, some of the stepping is engaging and creative, while others are downright goofy and gimmicky (see the routine with people wearing Hannibal Lecter masks). Aside from the dancing, however, this docu also shows the positive side of engaging in activities like dancing. In meeting the various teams, we see how stepping has had a positive impact on their lives. Many of them are model students, while others are kind hearted people who are involved in doing charity work. While "Stomping On The Yard" is not something I can recommend running out to see, it certainly beats watching amateur dancers (COUGH "Dancing With The Stars" COUGH) or lame Hollywood films on the subject. "Stomping On The Yard" is presented in fullscreen with an unknown audio track. No extras are included on this disc.

CSI:Miami The Complete Sixth Season

"CSI:Miami", in its sixth season breaks away from the formulated CSI format and really starts to get the audience to better know its stars.  Of course, crimes are still solved but the subplots for the season involve the characters and their individual lives.  To start with, star David Caruso as Horatio Caine finds out he has a son in the first few episodes and his son is in trouble with the law.  He then reunites with his mother, who seems to be a big time con artist played by Elizabeth Berkley  Amid this backdrop, Emily Proctor who plays Calleigh Ducaine,  gets kidnapped in a two parter,  Adam Rodriguez, (Eric Denko) continues to deal with his head injury, in which during an episode he imagines a dead CSI star from a couple seasons ago, and Jonathan Togo as Ryan Wolfe is reinstated after struggling to overcome a gambling habit.  This season also marks the departure of one of its stars; Khandi Alexander (Alex Woods), the medical examiner who talks to her dead bodies, says her goodbyes in a late season episode. The ending episode of the season is a classic cliffhanger that is not to be missed.
