Review
"The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody" is a watchable Disney show.
"The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody" revolves around two high school twins who live at the Hotel Tipton. One of the twins (Zac)k is a smart alc troublemaker while the other twin (Cody) is geeky and sensitive. In this 4 episode DVD, Zack and Cody get into all sorts of adventures such as auditioning for a high school musical production of "High School Musical," going on dates, having a conflict in a band class and trying to help a hotel engineer move on with his life.
Compared to "Cory In The House," 'Zack and Cody' is a breath of fresh air. True, the stories aren't even remotely original, but the show never pretends to be anything groundbreaking. It's a harmless kid show with two charismatic leads (Cole and Dylan Sprouse) who make the show worth watching. I know I bashed the Sprouse twins in my "The Prince And The Pauper" review, but I can see their appeal in this show. They do a fine job in standing out from one another and making the characters their own. I also have to give credit to Phill Lewis, who plays the hotel manager Mr. Moseby, as he is one of the show's highlights. I also thought "High School Musical" veteran Ashley Tisdale shined, even though she oly appeared in one of the four episodes. In fact, the only character I couldn't stand is the obnoxious brainless rich girl London played by Brenda Strong. I don't blame Ms. Strong for her role as it's not her fault that the characer is completely useless and distracting.
Extras include 9 Disney trailers, a 4 minute season 2 gag reel and a 13 1/2 minute featurtte titled "Backstage Disney Twin-Tastic" that contains Brenda Song interviewing the Sprouse brothers as well as a highlight reel of their show.
