“Transformers: Cybertron” is arguably the worst “Transformers” series.

The plot: The Autobots (led by Optimus Prime) must save their home planet (Cybertron) from being destroyed by a black hole. In order to do so, the Bots must find Cyber Planet Keys. Naturally, the evil Decepticons are also after the Keys. This DVD set includes all 52 episodes.

As someone who grew up on the original “Transformers” animated series (G1), I have to say that “Cybertron” is an absolute disgrace for fans of the franchise. Literally everything about this show is horrendous. Let me go through the list of all the flaws:

1. The revamped rap theme song is an abomination.

2. The video game like animation is weak.

3. The overlong transforming scenes take-up several minutes of each episode and they don’t even include the classic sound f/x!

4. The robot designs are clunky. Take a look at Megatron if you don’t believe me.

5. Characters pop in and out for the sole purpose of selling toys.

6.  The once personable characters are virtually interchangeable in this series.

7. As incredible as this may sound, the robot on robot action won’t even hold your interest here.

8. The scripts are repetitive and dull.

9. Stock footage is recycled over and over.

10. The dialogue is bound to make any fan cringe. The Bots literally spout lines like “Don’t underestimate me Autobot clowns!” and “I’ll rebuild myself with a ginormous cannon!”

11. The voice acting is poor. Many of the voice actors try way too hard to imitate voices from the original series.

Overall, I hate to say it, but this series makes Michael Bay’s film look brilliant. Avoid this and watch G1.

The fullscreen picture is crisp looking, even though the animation is cheap. The Dolby Digital Stereo track lacks depth. The dialogue can be hard to hear at times.
