"The Ultimate Fighter" is a surprisingly entertaining reality series.

The 13 episode sixth season of the reality series “The Ultimate Fighter” sees cocky pro UFC fighters Matt Serra and Matt Hughes coaching and training 16 contestants who are battling to win a UFC contract. Note: Each episode seems to be uncensored.

When I saw the words “reality series” on the back of the box, I groaned. Aside from a few series, such as “I’m With Busey,” reality programs are generally a disgrace to television. How many shows revolving around C-list celebrities can one possibly watch? Thankfully, “The Ultimate Fighter” is one of the better reality series around. True, the show does contain a lot of eye-rolling drama and temper tantrums, but the fights more than make up for the flaws. The highlight is hands down the series finale at the Palms in Vegas where several of the contestants fight each other, as well as other semi-pros. The most notable match is the bloody and brutal fight between Rollins and Koppenhaver. I’m not much of a fight fan, but even I was glued to the screen during this intense battle. Talk about a guilty pleasure.

Extras:

* Ads for UFC On Demand, the UFC website, UFC DVDs, and the UFC store.

* 9 fight cards.

* A behind-the-scenes glimpse at the lives, hometown and hobbies of pro fighters Clay Guida and Roger Huerta. There’s also a backstage look at the finale.

* Profiles on Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, Tommy Speer and Mac Danzig.

* 17 minutes of additional scenes which include more drama between the competitors, as well as more footage of them screwing around and breaking things.

* 21 minutes of fighter auditions where you get to learn more about several people.

* 7 minutes of footage from various casting tapes.

10.5 Apocalypse

Category: Quick Reviews
Not that anyone was really asking for it, but this two-part miniseries is a sequel to NBC's previous disaster epic, "10.5." It picks up immediately after the catastrophic events of that first miniseries, in which a bunch of quakes has decimated the West Coast. This time, a massive fault line threatens to literally tear the country in half. Along the way, the usual number of cities and famous landmarks meet their untimely demise. Like its predecessor, "10.5 Apocalypse" features lots of CGI destruction (some good, some phony as hell), too many subplots to pad out the running time to a deadly three hours, most of the same cast gawking in horror as they watch events unfold on computer screens, and the most worthless president in American history (Beau Bridges, not George W.), who pops up every 15 minutes or so to scream at his officials to do something about this mess. Still, if you keep the skip button on your remote control handy, disaster movie fans should find enough amusement to make this disc worth checking out. And, hey...it's presented in widescreen! From Echo Bridge Entertainment.
