Review

Based on a popular series of books written by Holes scribe. Louis Sachar, this TV series takes place in the titular school, where all manner of absurdities are par for the course. The main characters are a group of smart, witty and wild school kids who use the free-for-all feeling that the school provides to engage in every bit of mischief under the sun. It's a rollicking ride that thankfully avoids making overwrought moral statements or trying to leave kids with some message at the end of an episode. It is what it is, and it makes no apologies for that.

It's also an example of the quick attention span of today's young television audience as sight gags and snap pop culture references fly through each episode in milliseconds. Grown ups might have a hard time catching their breath if they try to follow along, but if you're willing to let yourself become acclimated to the snappy mood and pacing of this show, it is a treat to watch.
